Hi

I need a cordless drill to dril out a broken split pin in my cars ball joint.
It's obviously metal. Which size drill would I need to do this job? I will need roughly a 2.5m drill bit for the job.

I'm not sure if your Subject is correct for the question, but a 240v drill would be fine, or a battery powered one.

18v should do the job, the drill bit is the most important thing to get right. Just a quick question have you tried tapping it out first?

Not yet but will do tomorrow. I need to buy a punch.

Thank you.

I used a bosch 240w in the end I think. It was corded. Not sure I used the correct drill bit but it worked in the end.

What type of drill bit do you need for metal? (For future ref)

On steel battery drills are better, because they turn slower and control speed better.

For something like a 2.5mm drill bit anything would do the job. Lots of pressure, nice slow speed, you want to see the steel turning or chipping off. Don't go fast with light pressure, that will just rub and burn the drill bits out in no time.

Hi

Took me approx 30mins but got there in the end. Definitely agree re going too fast as that really doesnt work.

Thank you
