The core is for a new WC connection, the right hand end of the horizontal pipe beyond the new connection will become redundant so I can either drop down vertically or raise the horizontal pipe.

Dropping down would be slightly easier for me if there's no technical reason not to.

Other than an additional bend, either would be ok. No reasons that prevent you from doing so, other than creating a block point, so perhaps the red lined route would be best.

Red. And you can use that conveniently placed bulkhead light to see what you're doing o_O

You can do green at 45 degrees into a branch if you prefer to straight down, since you have a wc on the brach you don't have to keep the fall as close to flat, but either way make sure there's access to rod any sections that are left

Thanks. I'll take the red route. I have a 90 elbow and a bit of pipe with a socket on the redundant bit that I can reuse.

It's very handy when we have evening parties on the garage roof! The old lady before us had 4 dotted round the house, wired into unfathomable 70's wiring - I think that ones there till the kitchen ceiling comes down.

I think JD 2.0's idea is better and less work - use the existing stack connection and then come out the wall at 45° or suchlike. Avoid sharp bends as in the green line idea, and using the existing lower connection is also potentially less obtrusive

So like this?

Looks tidier. Just need to find my giant protractor to work out where to cut.

It was above the side door before I built the garage. I would have removed it but all the 1970's wiring is under the first floor and the bits I've seen (massive clumps of single core cables, steel conduits, strange radial circuits, loads of junction boxes etc) make me steer clear of it - I've nearly finished rewiring the entire house room by room and am gradually removing the old stuff.
