Hi, what's the best please, I have used rust neutraliser, just need some decent paint that will protect it from moisture.

I used some specific radiator paint years ago and it ran like nothing else, looked awful.

Thanks

If you've used a rust killing primer, you could use oil-based undercoat and then oil-based gloss.

Don't be afraid of applying lots of coats of undercoat, if it helps to build up the coverage.

Make sure each undercoat is dry before each coat.

Gently sand any nibs off, and then dust off, between coats.

It is much easier to prepare and paint if you disconnect it and lay it flat in the garden on a bin or something

Ensure it is turned on when reinstalled or it will get wet with condensation.

Thick paint is more prone to crack.

No. Hammerite. Comes in a variety of colours and finishes and can be painted over rusty metal.

If your radiator is rusting, the galvanised finish on the rad is flawed. You can remove the rad, have it sand blasted, re dipped and then repainted, but I would expect a brand new rad to (possibly) be cheaper

It is also thick, like treacle to apply, with no time to brush out. It will make for a terrible finish.

As a decorator, I will only ever use the stuff on thin materials, eg railings or cast iron guttering which is two stories up and cannot be seen clearly from the ground. That said, you can add some cellulose thinners if need be.
