What's the best place to practice laying silicone beads?

Being new to this I was hoping to be able to practice before I start for real.. thing is not sure where best to practice, any thoughts on this or will i just need to bite the bullet and do it for real first time...

Find/buy a cheap picture frame of reasonable size. Remove the picture and practise on the rebate where the picture sits.
