Got quite a diverse route between the loft shower mixer and the negative pressure pump on the 1st floor.

The best option would be plastic with a few gentle bends, someone mentioned Hepworth as the best pliable pipe, do you agree ?

If I can get away with zero joins between the mixer and pump it will allow me total confidence to tile over, keep the water running without any joint area resistance (90 deg bends and straight connectors) and generally be easier than 22mm copper.

Any recommendations appreciated, since the last 22mm plastic I worked with was so rigid it required popeye forearms to straighten it off !

Also does storing the pipe, say in the airing cupboard for a day 'soften' it off to work on, or is that a simple myth.

No plastic pipework is as flexible as manufacturers make out. Hepworth have had more design faults than others. Speedfit is very restrictive through the joints.

I suggest you use solder ring copper fittings and pipe. Solder properly and it will never leak. Never use plastic fittings buried behind the tiles.

Just watch out for the disintegrating grab rings, the pipe that shears in half and at one stage they recalled miles of the stuff when the glue machines played up (the layers didn't bond together)

The warmer the better. It will make a difference but it will probably cool quite quickly when removed from the heat.

IR was student days....I would have ended up at the BBC if they hadn't screwed up the placements (I'd got through the interviews)

Several customers have discovered the downside of plastic (apart from installation errors).

The best one was grab ring failure....mains water flooded the downstairs. While I was getting copper fittings from the van and emergency call out plumber turned up to the property next door. The water had run through the party wall :)

AS always thanks guys, Hep seems the way foward.
