Whats this on my Radiator valve

I bought a pair of Comap chrome radiator valves a while back but have only just gone to fit them

One has got a pink band round it the other hasnt .I'm not sure if the pink band one goes on the feed or return or what the pink band is for ??

I would say the pink band is supposed to remove the need for PTFE.

Not sure I would trust it though.

Definitely looks pre-used, especially as trere's some 'residue' on the compression nut, too.

Comap do a few ranges of rad valves. None, IIRC, have any sealant on the threads. No-manufacturer puts sealant on the compression nut.

Why does only one valve have it Where were they purchased from?

Fraid to say they don't look brand new at all as others have said and the pink coating is PTFE based that does away with need for tape. Where did you buy them?

Looks like pipe wrench teeth marks on the connecting nut as well, its been used before.

As others have said it is factory fitted sealant , similar is pre fitted or was to some pressure reducing equipment supplied with UV cylinders.

No idea, it's just the tail, mixed up when put in the box most likely.

I got worried for a minute and checked again but they are new and unused .
Ill just PTFE they as normal

Comap Westco do not put thread seal of any type on their rad valves. If they did, both valves would have it, and the picture from their website would show it.
I will ask again: from where were they purchased?
