I have a non sealed central heating system, which I will be draining down this summer!
Then flushing with a neautral cleaner and then replacing the Inhibitor.

"When would be the best time to get the Boiler serviced?"

1/Before draining down and cleaning system
2/After draining down and cleaning system
3/It does not make any difference

Also when the system is drained down I will take this opportunity to clean the F&E tank.
"How should I clean the F&e tank? With a solvent?"

Also any advice for general maintenance of my Central Heating system would be much appreciated :D

The system is TEN years old, I was thinking of taking the premptive opportunity to replace the pump and motorised valve; is this a worthwhile idea?

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Personally I would do this after you have refilled the system and its running.

Would this not depend upon which method of flushing you are using. If you are using fernox restorer or similar, would this not be added to the F&E tank and therefore clened by default to some degree.

I'm a great believer of 'IIABDFI' You could make sure the gate valves either side of the pump are sound in case you do need to remove it in the future. If you don't have any then fit some.
