Silly question but where is the diverter valve?
There are only two pipes attached to the boiler (Halstead 50) which suggests one out and one return, in which case the diverter must be after the pump and under the bedroom floorboards somewhere?? :?:

The valve(s) should be somewhere accessible. A common location would be next to the hot water cylinder.
Other possibilities include under the bath or in the loft.

Although it should be after the pump, if the valve is hidden it is possible the pump is installed in the wrong place also - such as on the return rather than the flow.

Thanks, found it under the floorboards in the bedroom above the boiler.
Having confirmed this isn't working (by turning heating/hot water settings to hot water only and finding both pipes leaving the valve get very hot), I find it's not the only problem. The hot water is getting to the point at which the pipe enters the cylinder, but the cylinder isn't getting hot - suggests there's a blockage of some sort where the hot water enters the cylinder. The plumber's bill is going to be high
