Hi, I'm wondering where to start my wall at the top of the landing.

Do I line it up with the wall opposite (green line)
Or bring it up to where the landing step is (red line)

Red.
Will line up for placing your feet down.
No mistaking where to place your feet Vs first step down with green line

Thanks for the advice.
I figured the red line would be best, as like you mentioned it's more dangerous.
I think the stairs were potentially steeper at one point (being a Victorian mid terrace) but previous owners replaced them and had to conform with regs.
I've never liked the way it drops. I guess one way to rectify is a turn in the stairs at the bottom.

The landing should be as wide as the opening - that applies to both sides of stairs. Can't the flight be moved to increase the landing?

Otherwise it may be possible to angle the landing and add a step back into the room.
