I have recently moved in a 140sq. metre 2 bed house with a bathroom (containing a bath and a shower) and a separate en-suite (containing a shower).

The house currently has no heating and I'm looking for an effective and efficient system.

Which combi boiler would you experts suggest!

Do a search, this gets asked about once every couple of weeks on here. You'll get a range of answers, with Intergas and Vaillant most likely coming out top depending on who happens to read your post.

I'd go Intergas every time...

You gotta love these original questions ;).

Atmos InterCombi HE32,
Intergas HRE 24/18
Atag A Series
Vaillant ecoTEC Plus
Worcester Bosch
Viessmann

In that order order of preference - although the last three are pretty much interchangeable.

Well if you want to run the bath and the shower at the same time, I would not be recommending a combi!

I've seen Vaillant, Alpha and Glow Worm do a 'storage' combi boiler. Must be a half way house between a normal combo and a split system.

Any good?

Anyone installed these before?

Thanks for your comments so far.

My budget is £2k lower if possible.

Can anyone answer the original questions?

I see this is yet another thread where the focus of reply is not on the actual question. It has quickly spiralled into you lot squabbling over each other.

Has anyone installed a storage combi? If so, what are your thoughts?

Does anyone dare admit they have installed this type of boiler without a remark about yawning etc etc, or I take it you all install the dogs ********* every time eh? and you pretend not to know about 'combis'!

Can any of you experts actually provide any useful advice?

Dan_Robinson has answered your original question and gave you a list of his preferred combi boilers, but this list would change with each installer who answers, there is no definitive answer to your question, each installer has their own preference, so ask the installer you will use for his opinion, as he will most likely be the one to service the boiler annually, so best to get a boiler he is familiar with and is used to working on

£2000 for a storage combi and all the heating is not going to happen, if it is just for the boiler only its possible for something like a glow worm ultrapower.
Youll only need a storage combi if you plan on running more than one outlet at once, if its generally a couple of showers one after the other do you really need it?? will one shower at once suffice?
for the same money you can buy a system boiler and unvented cylinder which for me would be a better solution but will cost you a bit more to fit.
Check your incoming pressure and more importantly flow rates which will determine how much hot water you will have to play with.

the most important thing you should do before any of this is to learn not to take everything you read on an internet so seriously!

Now I am really going to upset some on here, most installers will have their own preferance but this usually goes with reward programmes good loyalty bonus etc. if you really want to know how good a boiler is ask someone who constantly services and repairs them , all boilers fire up first time when installed and most installers never go back again after day one, look for long guarentee periods and check out who in your local area will be called out should you require a call out under the warranty, most people who install boilers as the main part of their experience dont have a clue what happens inside that big white box, go with an installer who is recommended by which manufacturer they advise and call the manufacturer and as if the installers recommendation is the best advice its all free so make the most of it and do it with a few , dont beleive all the bad press most of us are genuine and would rather have reccomendations than have to fork out on advertising to get future work

You gotta love these original questions ;).

.

What's so weird about the opening question?!

Thankyou for your answer, but did it really need the 'gotta love these original questions' remark?

Do you have any idea how often this question gets asked!

Ian - I choose my boilers very carefully and on engineering judgement after taking one to pieces. Viessmann and Vaillant being the exception- although I will be addressing that issue in the next 2 weeks or so. I buy most of my boilers from Atmos and get no reward points at all.

OP yes I have installed many storage combis. - I even had an atmos multi in my last house..

They would be thoroughly pointless in a two bed house.

Now I suggest you lose the attitude. You are getting free advise from professionals.
