To glue the end strips onto the ends of kitchen surfaces. Chipboard laminate surface. And what ever the material is for these strips, same as the surface?
I have a hot melt glue gun, would that do?
Or something else?
Araldite or Cascamite?

Use a contact adhesive, hot melt would be to thick & you need to be quick

i agree with diyisfun

evostic[snot ;) ]type glue also make shure it covers every bit of bare wood even the little chipped edges underneath as this will waterproof the edges

Don't they come with pre-glue then heated on with a hot iron ?

Anyone got any advice for trimming afterwards. Do you glue first then trim or trim them glue?

if youve got a router and a twelve or fifteen bit set youll probably have a laminate trimmer in it

Yes,

See this for a laminated trimmer hand tool, under £10 I think.

Depends how much you have to trim, if its not much, you can draw file it, you can use sandpaper/wetordry, use a block go along the length but from from to back.
