Hi,
Although I thought I had a reasonable understanding of the various types of sealant and their uses, I realise I don’t and would appreciate your input.
I mainly need to seal a 2 mm gap between a laminated (duraboard) windowsill and the window frames. I also need to seal a small gap where the windowsill butts up against a plasterboard wall which will be painted.
My initial thoughts were to use a low modulus neutral cure silicone but realise that this won’t be able to be painted in the small areas adjoining the wall. To be honest, this might not be an issue as I could tool a neat finish on the silicone and emulsion up to it.
I did wonder though whether an acrylic sealant would be an all round option. It is important that whatever I use has good UV resistance properties and adhesion. Also I’d what to be able to tool and angle the silicone bead where necessary.
I’d appreciate any advice or recommendations.
Many thanks,
Damian
