Hi

Which is the best tool to cut out straight lines in MDF - as here on this radiator cover

http://www.carrickcooperage.co.uk/#837X939

Whilst I know a circular saw will do it to a degree is there any other simpler more built for the job tool do the trick - would a router go all the way through the wood, say on a 18mm board?

cheers.

do you want to try and cut a piece of mdf like that surround? If so a combination of a jigsaw and circular saw will be more than enough. If your worried about not getting things straight clamp a straight edge to it to use as a guide. The edges could then do with either sanding a round on them or a profile cut on them with a router.

If you want to try and cut something smililar to the grill, forget it.

for strait lines

plunge saw best tool for the job
circular saw next
table saw next
router and 4 or 5 passes next
jigsaw next

for curved lines jigsaw
then router using the template you made with the jigsaw

and as r896neo says forget the fret work its done on a 7 ton press ;)
