I've taken down a louvre(?) vent like this while decorating the bathroom:

The air brick is near the ceiling and the vent was facing upwards when I took it off (i.e. the other way round than in the photo). Is this the correct way round?

The correct way is so the openings are facing down so it doesn't get full up of crap and block the air flow. As said cold air falls so it matter a toss which way round it goes in that respect.
