whirlpool aa1200 awm1204/4 - filter query!

my whirlpool awm 1204/4 is making a bad smell when in use. i'm guessing the filter needs cleaning but i cant seem to take it out?? there is a small door at the bottom right of the machine front. inside is what looks like the filter but when i unscrew it, it doesn't actually come out it just comes loose. help please.....

Once it's loose pull it out also do 6 boil washes with a bottle of white vinegar each time to clean the smell.

i'll give the vinegar a go but the i've been pulling at the filter once loose and it doesn't seem to want to come out.....I didn't want to pull too hard in case I broke it. Is it def supposed to come right out? And, if so, what could be stopping it?? Thanks

Poss hairclips coins sim card hair bands cotton buds anything you can think of is in there . Once it's loose give it a good pull it's full up with something.
