Typical F1 error = NTC open circuit/short circuit or very low ambient temperature. Boil a kettle & pour a pint of hot water into the machine. Let it stand for a minute or two then try a program. Post the service number if you require further info....12 digits 8511-------.
This is the little chap http://www.4whirlpool.co.uk/cgi-bin/product.pl?PID=357313 you can probably find it a little cheaper by shopping around. It is twist fitted in the bottom of the sump. Best access is to turn the machine on its back & remove the bottom plate (2 screws + 2plastic pins). Once the plate is off all is revealed. I would check the plug connection/wiring & measure the NTC resistance before rushing out to buy a new one. At 20C a good NTC should measure around 58k Ohms. When heated to 85C the resistance should drop to around 4k Ohms. If it's outside these values then it is history. Good luck
Thanks Zipper,
Now i know what i'm looking for i'll see if i can get one from one of our scrap machines as i work in whirlpools distribution wearhouse. We don't deal with any parts just the full machines, so we don't get to see any engineers to ask about any problems we may have.
