Machine cycles seem to work fine but afterwards the softener tray remains full of water (softener is flushed from tray). Any suggestions on what could be causing this? Thanks.
Take out the tray. Wash out the conditioner compartment and its syphon tubes in hot water and use a stiff brush. It is very common for then to be clogged, either with congealed old softener and also if anyone puts powder in the softener compartment.
You do not say what make and model your machine is.
Usually the softener compartment can be opened up and has two overlapping tubes inside.
Examine the method of assembly carefully so that you put it back together right.
Look in the instruction book if you have not lost it.
I had mentioned in the subject that the machine was Whirlpool AWM1000 - I'll try your suggestions this weekend, hopefully they are still valid given this machine.
