My sister in law has a Whirlpool AWZ7303 Condensor tumble dryer that's a few years old now.
More often than not, when you press the start button, you can hear the motor trying to start the drum turning but it doesn't manage. Around every 5th attempt, it fires into life and then works fine, turning in both directions and drying the clothes.
I thought she might be trying to dry too much wet clothes at once, but it does this with nothing in the drum.
I've had a look at it and the belt seems to be ok and isn't slack or worn.
She was going to get hotpoint out to look at It, but the fixed repair cost plus vat brings you close to the cost of a brand new dryer.
Is this a sign of a weak/failing motor? Or anything else that you've seen before I could check or replace? We've been looking to try and find an independent repair specialist but haven't had much success so far.
Many thanks.
Duncan
