Whirlpool dishwasher ADP4504 problem

Dishwasher wants to work and starts to fill and then stops. Error code is a single flashing light.
I have tried all the usual things - making sure the filters in the bottom of the appliance are clean, check the flow from the mains is adequate, and that the flow through the waste pipe is unrestricted.
This has happened on several occasions but has cleared following pressing the button for 5s and resetting the machine.

Check the flashing light and count the flashes between pauses.
If it's a continual flash then it's error code 1. NTC fault.
Boil the kettle, pour it into the sump of the dishwasher and try it again.
