whirlpool dishwasher ADP5740

Can anyone please help diagnose fault with ADP5740 dishwasher. It takes in water when started but then stops with the starter button flashing. Would be grateful for any advice thanks..

The flashes indicates a particular error code. There are "x" flashes....pause, then the pattern repeats. Count how many times the led flashes & post it here.

Many thanks for help. Switched on machine in order to count flashes but it suddenly worked and is still working (sod's law). This happened once before about a month ago so is obviously an intermittent problem. If it happens again would it be ok if I count the flashes and contact you?

You were right - problem has happened again. As suggested I have counted the flashes and there are 6 then a pause. Many thanks if you can help

"F6. 6 Flashes. Water valve (WV1) is switched on but flow meter (FM) senses no impulses (less than 10 impulses in 10 secs) and the water indicator (WI) is at a low level
Water Valve Closed. Water inlet hose blocked.
Water inlet valve (WV1) defective. Flow meter (FM) defective (leads to FM failure)"

Maybe I should have added...the last 2 lines indicate possible culprits.
Check your water supply is good and the hose isn't kinked or twisted. Look at the inline filter in the end of the hose to check it isn't blocked with debris. If they are ok then it is likely to be a defective inlet valve, a defective flow meter, or bad connection to the flow meter.

Would there be any way of testing if it is the water inlet valve or the flow meter which is faulty before purchasing

Have checked solenoid valve/cold water inlet and flow is fine. How do we check the flowmeter and where is it located. Grateful for your help

Take off the left hand side panel & look for a 2 wire connector to a reed switch on the water matrix..this is the flow meter. Take off the connector & check/clean the contacts. Replace, reset & see what happens. If it works fine...if not replace the reed switch. They are not expensive.
