Our 5 year old Ikea/Whirlpool DWF B10 no longer circulates water. I have read the conversation between Zipper and trigger77 (see link below) and wondered what the solution would be if the pump did not hum??

To recap the machine fills, heats, runs through the cycle (including releasing the detergent) and drains but the water doesn't move.

I have cleaned the spray arms, removed the side covers but cannot hear any kind of noise coming from the circulation/spray pump when the machine is in operation.

Been quoted £180 to replace the spray pump!! Is it just the wash motor capacitor or is it terminal??

Remove the wash motor capacitor to check it or take it to a place that can (local repair/spares place)

If it is a typical whirlpool though it will not have a motor start cap (basically enlarged drain pumps). The motors do go weak though and either rattle or not turn. You could have a blocked impeller so it may be worth removing the pump and checking. Access is normally gained by lying it on its back and removing a plate from the base.

(it could be a damaged wire or connector on the pump)

As a note we tend to find that after about 5 years whirlpool dishwashers (whatever the badge, we see Prima mostly) either leak from the pump seals or the motor goes weak and rattly.

Looks like yours does have a start capacitor though so start there.
