Hi The whirlpool clothes dryer has stopped getting hot,
Can I test the element with a multi metre?
Two little barrel shaped things with spade contacts look in a bad way can these also be tested.
Cheers Ian

Sure, you can test your element with a multi meter set to resistance......look for a typically low reading, say 20 ohms.
Barrel things with spade connectors? You've got me there!
John :)

Hi Burnerman
Thanks for that
The little barrel shaped things are about 5/8" dia and about the same length
I presume the are heat sensors/cutouts,they are right on the the edge of the heat sink around the element,
Have you any idea where I can buy these parts
Cheers Ian

It sounds like they are overheat cut outs....check them for continuity the same way as the heating element.
Usually they have some form of identification marked on them, and the last one I used came from a white goods spares supplier on ebay.

It sounds about right.....at least there's continuity!
Time to check those cut outs, I feel......but go carefully if you are testing live ( sometimes the only way).
John :)

Hi Burnerman
A contact has dropped of one of the cut outs, could that be telling me something.
Any idea where to buy some ?
Cheers Ian
