Recently had a Ecotec 825 which came with a 10 year warranty installed. I need to have the boiler serviced yearly to maintain the warranty. Can any Gas Safe guy do this or does it have to be a Vaillant approved one? Vaillant Advance are not answering my emails, so have little faith in them.

I had my old GlowWorm boiler serviced yearly by an insurance company (Saga) which worked okay. Would Vaillant be okay with me continuing to use them?

The Vaillant Guarantee:
"7. The boiler must be serviced annually by a Vaillant or other registered Gas Safe Registered engineer in accordance with the
manufacturer’s instructions."
You should have a copy of the guarantee and the terms from Vaillant (our installer registered it for us, and Vaillant sent the paperwork by email before he had finished packing up).
If you do NOT have anything, then you need to get it registered ASAP, as Vaillant only allow 30 days from installation for the extended guarantee.

I do have one major problem - the installer did not leave me with a Benchmark logbook at time of installation. It would appear that this is a a key document.

The only documents I have are the installer's invoice, Vaillant Advance's dated registered guarantee letter together with Terms and Conditions and a Buildings Regulations Compliance Gas Safety Certificate.

The original installer (recommended by Vaillant Advance) did not respond to two requests for service to rectify two water leaks, one I fixed myself, the other required a plumber callout and I also got an F22 error caused by an unbled radiator - a YouTube video fixed that for me. All within a few days of installation.

I'll have another go at requesting this logbook from him, before taking this up with Vaillant.

Just take it up with Vaillant, it's their list of approved installers.

Vaillant approved installers, to do the service, should be better than most engineers - they will be more knowledgeable, and have better access to any parts needed, likely even have them on the van.

Although if you are unlucky, Vaillant may well hide behind the following clause on their website:
Quote:
As the installers listed on this website are not employed, contracted or approved by us, Vaillant cannot accept any responsibility for their workmanship. The terms of the Vaillant Group warranty on the quality of the manufacture of the product remains unaffected.
End Quote.
Fortunately, our chosen local GSR is also a Vaillant Approved installer - he was (a few years back) a Worcester Bosch man, but seems to have jumped ship.
Maybe Vaillant offer better sweatshirts....
