whats the point of earthing copper water pipes / taps etc ?

water is a conductor of electricity, SO arent all the pipes / taps, automatically earthed, as waters is touching all the surfaces ?

or am i missing something ?

its all to do with the principle of the faraday cage
ask on electrics
basically all exposed metalwork is at same potential to earth

Clean water's pretty poor conductor. Enough to kill you but often not enough to blow a fuse. Try measuring the resistance of water with a meter!
