Wickes 3 port motorised valve

I've replaced a leaking Danfoss Randall HSA3 3 port motorised valve on my central heating with a Wickes 3 Port Motorised Valve made by Siemens. I wired in the new valve replacing the same colour wires in the electic block. The only difference was the old valve had a brown and white wire and the new valve had an all white wire. The new valve doesn't seem to be working properely.

The central heating doesn't respond to the thermostat and the water isn't being heated. So what numpty amateur mistake have I made?

the valve you fitted is non spring return
you should of fitted a honeywell or Drayton
I spent 3 hours trying to wire I siemann up!

How do these return to their original state then, if there's no spring?

Doh, don't you love the feeling when you re-learn something that you promised yourself you would never forget. Like making sure the valve was the right way up.
