As above. MIL just been diagnosed with the onset of dementia - we sort of expected it as she's been getting noticeably worse over the last year or so but a few weeks ago she had a bladder infection resulting in a weeks stay in hospital and it’s like she's gone off of a cliff - terribly confused about just about everything. May even need to go in to a home but at the moment she's got carers coming in four times a day (just breakfast, lunch, tea and evening meds - doesn’t need help with washing or dressing etc) and it’s only been a few days but the problem we are having is that she is telling us that the carers haven’t turned up but she is that confused that we just don’t know if she is telling the truth. We are thinking of getting a Wifi doorbell and a couple of Wifi cameras indoors - just one for the kitchen and one for the lounge so we can keep a check on her from afar when we are not there and see who is coming and going - she is having at least one visit a day from friends and family in addition to the carers. We are also worried that she may get to the stage of going out for a walk at three in the morning and we could set the doorbell up to let us know of any comings and goings at odd hours etc. we have a ring doorbell ourself and I’m just wondering if there are any others out there.

Any suggestions as to what will suit?

Nest cameras are good, I know someone who has them front and back of the property, checking the comings and goings. Also they are fitted internally to keep a check on their elderly parents. All images are sent to a mobile and email address, easy to check up on during the day.

Cameras depends on what you need them to do.

Seeing they have arrived and or seeing if they are looking after her properly discrete cameras as well as obvious ones.

2MP 2 way cameras should be enough for most rooms internally.

Even some of the cheap ptz style cameras out there are okay just need to look at what you want recording.

Apparently the Brother in Law has taken over the organising of some cameras now. His friends parents both need watching over and his friend has some 'Blink' camera's/doorbell installed that he says work fine so I’ll leave him to it! We could have done with them last night - she said the carer had arrived and offered to give her a bath and put her to bed instead of ensuring she took her meds. She doesn’t need any help in that department and swore that she hadn’t had her meds. Mrs Mottie was all ready to have it out with them today but it was all documented and in the register - although they are not allowed to administer meds, he had waited to make sure she had taken them! A camera in the kitchen and another in the lounge will be very helpful.
