Anybody any thoughts?

Read an article in one of the PC mags, they approved, said it was a great improvement on Vistarrrgh.

I hope it going to be better than Vista. Microsoft os’s are getting to the point that there getting too bloated.

Can’t wait to try Google chrome os.

I've installed the RC-1 version on a spare hard disk partition. It seems to work very well on my rather old computer that doesn't have very good specifications by today's standards. I will be quite happy to upgrade to it when it's time to get a new computer (keeping XP until then).

As I read it at present, the Linux based Google Chrome OS will be, more or less, only a way of running the Chrome browser. This will access online applications for doing the jobs traditionally done with programs installed on the computer (word processing etc.). Files perhaps stored online too.

If that is the case, I'd be worried about what happens when the Internet slows to a crawl in times of heavy traffic, or when the connection drops altogether. At least with applications installed on the computer, it's possible to get on with something else at times like that.

been running win7 as part of a multi-boot rig for over a month now. Vista HP was my main weapon of choice, but since i gto a really nasty virus last week that took the whole partition down, I scrapped it and decided to go full time win7.
Gotta say, its been great, everything i've installed on it works so far (even drivers for a 6 year old printer work), it doesn't feel bloated, it wakes up from hibernate very fast, it boots up quicker.
Shame its gonna cost more than any other OS on release date, but will probably be worth it.

Thumbs up from me........for now!

I am running Win 7 RC in M$ Virtual Machine hosted by XP Pro.
Looks and feels ok - as does XP Pro...

Just out of interest is anyone else running the RC in a VM??
My internet was very slow unlike 3 other VM'ed OSs - tried all the tricks I could find -- As a totally last resort, with a sense of rumbling cries of 'snake oil' I tried Cfosspeed 'net shaping' program on 30 day trial ... Win7 in the VM now flies full chat on the web, up and down! I am guessing that hosting with XP isn't quite what Win 7 needs.
