Wind up Doorbell - how to get it off?

How do I get a wind-up doorbell off the door. The dome conceals the screws that attach it to the door, how do I get the dome off - it just keeps spinning?

I can't even find how to install, which would probably show me how to get it off?

Pictures would help are you sure they're not on the other side of the door under button cover

Try pulling the dome firmly away from the door while turning the dome anti-clockwise.
If that fails and the bell is going to be scrapped anyway, lever the dome off with a couple of large screwdrivers under the dome edge.

I agree with Alec_1, ( as I posted in your other thread on this topic )

I would think that turning the dome in the opposite direction to the winding direction would unscrew the dome from the shaft.

Thanks for the replies. I did that and I think I must have broken it as it's just spinning freely now in both directions. I think my only option is to prize the bell off and hope that I can replace what I've broken?
