Wasnt sure if i should put this in Windows/doors section or woodworking.
Anyway ive got this window sill on the side of a conservatory. Used to be under an overhanging tree which has been removed.
As you can see the wood work has seen better days and in need of some attention
The glazing bars all need replacing by the looks of things but im not sure about the actual sill.
The big square end cap or beam? is a bit more worrying as it looks like something has been eating it on the edges!! ( cant sre any of the small exit holes that typically occur with wood wom though)
On close inspection of the sill itself, there are no areas where the wood has crumbled away or appears to have completely degraded. The wood is pretty dry but is slightly soft.
Im wondering if I can remedy this for a limited time using some wood hardener and a smooth over with exterior filler?
In terms of replacing the whole sill, has anyone got advice on how this type of sill would be fitted to the frame?
Ive not able to find any hidden fixings yet so not sure how I would go about removing it and replacing with a new one if required.
Any suggestions of how best to sort this lot out?
Also anyone know the specific profile name for those glazing bars?
