It has updated just fine, until recently, when it began complaining more, and more about being able to install 'Windows 11, version 24H2', Checking as to why, it says.

It sounds as if it may be a recurrence of your earlier EFI/GPT reserved partition issues...
I managed to get the install working, until it failed at an error, which I managed to circumvent by restarting the install again, but as the admin. Until it again failed complaining 'win 11 upgrade error we couldn't update the reserved partition' - The EFI partition.

A bit of research suggests that is due to the EFI partition being full / too small, at 100Mb. Next on the disc is the GPT reserved partition, then C: where my data etc. it. I managed to find a free util, able to reduce the size of C:, so their was 200Mb free space ahead of it, but I got stumped on how to move the GPT, to enable me to expand the EFI partition.
Not an answer as such, but others seem to be having similar problems...

Microsoft community support page:

You may need to increase the space available on the partitions, again.

It's unfortunate that Windows error messages are so cryptic. No doubt they mean something to the developers, but it would be helpful if they were more informative for the end users, e.g. by pointing out that the reserved partition size needs increasing.to accommodate all the bloatware.
