I am having a single storey extension built with a utilty room, a dinning room and a cloakroom, do the windows need to meet the building regulations on escape?

I did not need planning permission as it is a permitted development

The window company said no and said top opening widows would be ok, but im worried about the building inspector will have to say about it

Thanks

Means of escape generally applies to habitable rooms, i.e. 1st floor bedrooms but not exclusively.

If say the dining room were isolated, at the end of a corridor or as an offshoot from another room then there may be a case.

You must also observe smoke detector requirements.
