Wiring 2 Gang Dimmer

Hi all,
I'm replacing a standard 2 gang switch with a 2 gang dimmer switch.
The previous setup had all 3 black wires tied off together then a red wire into one of the commons, a bridge wire between the 2 commons then the other 2 red wires into the L1 slots on the switches.
I replicated this on the new dimmer switch and it works ok in terms of turning on/off the lights and the dimmer also works but I'm finding that one dimmer is dimming both lights together and one dimmer is dimming one light.
Is there a way to make the dimmers completely independent easily with this setup? The person who wired this previously has cut the black wires very short so it will be quite difficult to get any of these into any of the connections on the light switch.

Not come across that before, did they use three T+E instead of 1 x T=E and a 3 core strapper?

Something which has occurred to me is could it be I mixed up which wire went to the common terminal before? I read online this is supposed to be marked with brown tape but none of them are. I didn't take a photo initially which obviously was a mistake but maybe if I put the always live wire into one of the L1s and then the switch wire into common could that cause it?

Line in and line out mixed up. You need to test which line is always live, and ensure that wire is used with the bridge between both switches.

You have three red wires, one needs to go with the link wire, and it will do no harm getting the wrong one, just only one will work correct, so maximum three attempts, and you will get the right one.
