Mira Azora 9.8 Kwh electric shower; the manufacturer's instructions show the wiring sequence as.....30Ma RCD on Consumer Board to Double Pole pull switch (I'm using a 50 amp DP with neon and flag pull cord switch) then to Shower.

Question: should there be a 45 amp MCB also fitted in the circuit and if so; where in the circuit should it be situated; just before the Consumer Board ?

I will not be doing any work involving the Consumer board connections.

That isn't what the diagram shows.

I think that you need to read page 9 rather than just look at the diagram.

45A as a guide only + 30mA RCD device.

Either 45A (suggested) in the consumer unit and, if the consumer unit doesn't include RCD protection, then an RCD fitted at a suitable location between the consumer unit and shower.

If this is a new circuit then you need a suitably qualified electrician to install all the cabling and protective devices.

The manufacturer's instruction should offer guidance of fuse/breaker size, calculation would be either 9800w/230v 0r 9800w/240v both calculation would suggest a load demand above 40A is required, 45A breakers are often not available for most consumer unit, so next size up would be 50A, this would be installed at the distribution board where the RCD is protecting that circuit, before any of this is done you must confirm the cable size and isolator are rated at least equal or greater than that of the 50A protective device.
Cable sizing will also require the factoring of the method and route it is installed, as if it is within insulated floors/walls/ceiling or within containment such as trunking/conduit, this will have a bearing of the cables safe current carrying capacity and may require to sized upwards.
