Fitting some Mains wired smoke alarms in the house, and also hard wired Carbon monoxide detector. Now the fire alarms have 9v battery backups but the COD doesnt,

I was wandering if wiring the hall light onto the citcuit would contravene regs?

Just so if it ever did trip for any reason I would be alerted to the fact reasonably quick. Alarm circuit is on 1.5mm T+E on 6A RCBO.

It is acceptable to supply smoke alarms from a regularly used local lighting circuit.

But should they have an independent isolator, if using this method?

Wiring of smoke alarms
The detectors are required to:
a) be linked, so that the operation of one will initiate all
b) be permanently wired with independent circuit to CU or supplied from local regularly used lighting circuit. (there should be a means of isolating the supply without switching off the lighting circuit).
c) have a standby power supply.

Not that I'm aware of unless it's specified in the MIs.

I'm of the opinion that the harder it is for them to be isolated the better.
