Thinking of knocking my kitchen and dining room into one.

With the wiring to the wall sockets etc, is there any regulation saying I can't re-route the wiring within the wall stud cavity and reposition the sockets myself.

thanks

Apart from the fact that you will be moving/altering/adding to circuits in a kitchen/special area in contravention of "part P" ?

Of course you can do it yourself. This is a forum aimed at DIYers!
But you'll need to contact the local authority and pay their ridiculous fee first. Then ythey will come and inspect the work at various stages and will want to see all of your test results - so I hope you've a set of calibrated test meters that can do all of the tests.

You'll need a good understanding of wiring regulations and knowledge of where permitted cable route are.

Your consumer unit may need upgrading/ changing so your work will comply with BS7671(2008) and all its loverlee amendments.

Sounds simple enough, eh?

Please explain how moving/altering/adding to circuits in a kitchen/special area contravenes Part P.

I've read it.

It has no bearing on your assertion whatsoever, which IMO was way past the line dividing tongue-in-cheek and completely-misleading-falsehood.

No providing you follow the requirements of BS7671:2008 (amd1)
and notify building controls of your intentions prior to starting work and pay the fee that is applied to this.
