Hey all,
I have recently visited a friend who is having a kitchen fitted and the incomplete wiring for the oven and combi oven caught my eye and I didn't think it looked right.

Essentially, the oven is a 3500w pyrolytic and the combi is 3000w. They both have their own 2.5mm twin and earths that goes into their own fused spurs which are hooked into the socket ring main.

Firstly, I thought the 2.5mm spur cables were too thin, shouldn't this be 4mm+?
Secondly, I know they should have their own dedicated cable and MCB but with how this is done, isn't this massively overloading the ring main? Like the washing machine and dishwasher are plugged into this as well..

Apparently this was done by a qualified electrician so I don't want to say anything until I know more about what I'm talking about!
Any help much appreciated!

2.5mm² is rated up to about 27 amps, or over 6000W. If anything, it's oversized.

A 3500W oven is not suitable for a 13A fuse, as that would be over 15 amps. However that assumes the oven is really capable of that power, and it's not just the sum of all the heating elements or some other nonsense.
3000W could be on a 13A fuse, but it's right at the limit and again not particularly appropriate as fuses get hot when in use, and many cheapo FCUs fail when connected to high loads for long periods.

Attaching them to a ring circuit isn't a particularly good choice either, cooking items on their own circuit(s) would be more usual.
