wma22p washing machine very noisy spin

I have been given a hotpoint wma22p and it washes well very quiet until it gets to the spin and then it sounds like a diesel train going through a tunnel. The inner drum is not lose there is no movement between the two drums so its not the bearings.
the springs are attached but there is a lot of movement of the whole drum swinging about as it starts the spin so I am wondering if it is the suspension legs/springs that need replacing

Is it the same noise when no clothes in it. Cos there's no play in the drum do not mean the bearings are ok. The bearings will be shot and need replacing.

Check for loose concrete weights. The suspension units rarely give trouble. One weight is on the top, the other is fitted at the front near the bottom of the tub.
