Our old boiler "ist kapput!" (see below for details)

The fella I usually rely on fer all things gas has recommended a "wolf" boiler (german company). I've never heard of em. Has anyone else? Can you recommend them??

They currently provide a 28Kw condensing combi with timer, flu, etc fer approxiamtely £650.00 inclusive of VAT. 2 years parts and labour garauntee and SEDBUK rated A!!! Sounds too good to be true.

Our new house (10 yr old 3 bed semi) has a gloworm swiftflow boiler output 60000btu's. Upon moving in my priorities included draining down to check water in ch, flushing rads and running fer a week or so with sludge remover for the sump pipework (if needed), adding trv's and repressuring with added inhibitor.

Cut a long story short the ch had been abused and the vendor had no service record. Water was filthy, turned out diverter valve wasnt working porperly (split diaphragm???) could only get dhw if boiler was calling fer heat to ch and/or by clicking electronic ignition several times.

Also I dont think that, given the size of the house number of rads etc that the boiler was capable of working efficiently.

In addition gas supply from meter (approx 7 metres away and run in floor void) I suspect is run on 15mm pipe! Supply that can be seen from behind wall unit to appliance is 15mm.

The pilot went out and so now ive got to get a new thermocouple. Can go on chuckin good money after bad on a boiler for which spares is becoming increasingly difficult.

Cheers Kev!

Think me and the missus will have to take the plunge. Might as well run the new feed in readiness. I'll send her under the floor to run the 22mm for it!

Anyone else rate these boilers????

cheers would appreciate that very much!

Ian, my gas man, has only ever fitted 1. He said that they are relatively new on the UK market.

Think you have my e-mail addy. I got urs so I'll send you a blank message just in case

However good a Wolf boiler may be, I have to say that my advice would be to stick to a well known brand that has proper UK backup.

I can include Sime, Heatline and Radiant as having extablished backup.

Apart from warranty support there is the question of spares availability. Even Viessmann spares are only available from the manufacturers.

Your missing the point Tony.

Sime, Heatline, Radiant, Potty, Baxi etc are rubbish and need a good backup, that is afterall how they make a killing from the poor/stupid public that buy the bean cans.
