We made non functioning decorative wood shutters for the exterior of our home over the weekend. We didnt want the faux wood or vinyl shutters that are massed produced. So we made them out of treated wood and are going to stain them ourselves. Well, after we made all four of them and took them out to set on the back patio to "Dry out" we realized that theses are pretty heavy. So we are wondering if we messed up by making them too heavy? I have looked on internet everywhere to try to figure out if the brick can hold them and I am just not sure. They look very nice but I dont want to put them up if the brick can not hold them. We made them out of three 1 x 6 , 6 foot long to match length of windows. Does anyone have an idea if we have made them too heavy? Thanks for any ideas!

No not too heavy to be fixed to the wall. At 6 feet long it gives you plenty of area to fix through. In my line of work I commonly have to fix to joints rather than the bricks and often it's just a weak lime mix at that and fingers crossed nothings ever fallen off a wall

Almost impossible to crack a brick drilling it, unless it's very close to a corner.[UK bricks that is]
