Sorry boring question but with the 'black line' at the bottom of the windows - hows best to repair before painting. A little of the wood is degraded.
Should I just get cheapo interior mastic ?
Or something more serious - if I use wood filler there's barely room and I don't want it sticking on the glass.
Thanks

It’s single glazing, it would have been bedded on linseed putty.

what’s happened is condensation has run down and eventually broken down the putty.

you could dig out the loose stuff then apply a bead MS polymer, which is a paintable silicone. Bear in mind it’s sticky and not that easy to smooth off.

alternatively you could get some acrylic putty - like dryseal MP, or a cheaper one that brewers do.
