I am building a workshop in my back yard, and trying to decide between wood and block construction.
If I use block it will be standard construction, however if I use wood, I am still planning to pour footings, and also a grade beam (or block) up to around 30cm out of the ground. The wood framing would then sit on top of that. I would render the outside either way, and it would have a pitched roof with tile to match the house.
It seems to me the wood/grade beam solution would give many of the pros of wood construction with the longevity of block. Has anyone tried this, and if so, how did it go?
