Is it possible (or safe) to use a domestic vacuum cleaner,ie a Dyson dc 01, as a dust extracter for electric wood working machones?.

Thank you. cliffc

Not really. Domestic vac's are not up to it. Also, the manufacturers won't honour the warranty if it's used in such a way.

what specific machine are you trying to extract from!!
if you talking router planer or table saw then heavy duty extraction
if your talking sanding the henry/vax wet and dry with fine filter

Thank you Norcon.
I will give the Dyson a run out tomorrow.
Wish me luck!
Many Thanks cliffc

I use a dust collector system which I bought off E-Bay. Its just a plastic tank with filters on the inlet side and the domestic vac just supplies the "suck"
Can't remember the make but a search on "dust collectors" should find it. It works fine on a table saw and planer thicknesser.

Hello maltaron.
Many thanks for your post. It looks good.
I will add it to my 'wish list'. Wife's permission of course!

Thanks again
