Hi There,
I've just installed a new 7kw log burner. Everythings working fine on it. Good draw, good bit of heat but I've just noticed this hole on top. (pic attached)

Does anyone know what it's for or if something should go in there? I've looked everywhere but nothing came with it. Its not holding anything together and no smoke comes out when the doors closed but a little comes out when the doors open???

Thanks
Terry

There's certainly nothing like that on any stove I've seen.....I'd block it up with a plug of black fire cement - there's no reason for smoke to escape into a room.

Its not the smoke you can see that I would worry about. Its the carbon monoxide that you can't! Get it plugged before you use it again.

What make and model is your stove?
It may be only a void totally separate from the firebox or flue exit.
Though that looks like a hot plate for boiling a kettle.
