I am bulding a cabin in Northern Wisconsin. I want to make an unique wooded floor for the kitchen area of 12' x 18'. I want to use some old pine 4" x 4" timbers. I have about 250 feet. I intend to cut the timbers into 1" thick 4" x 4" squares. Then, I intend to stain & polyurethane the edges and only one side of the wooden tiles. I then plan to install them as you would ceramic tiles with about a 1/8" gap between tiles. I intend to use a wood glue to adhere the wood tile (the unstained side) to the wood floor base and then grout the gaps as you would a ceramic tile. Any suggestions??
