Hi,
I have a piece of furniture bought about 2 weeks ago, and today for the first time I heard some faint but definite scraping noises coming from what sounds like inside the wood, something like 4-5 scrapes every 20 seconds over the course of 10-20 minutes.
According to the leaflet that came with it, it's made from plantation wood from northern india, and is treated with wax.
There's definitely something inside munching away, question is do I need to worry about it? We have an old house with lots of wood and I'm not keen on importing exotic pests. My wife is pregnant so I'm not prepared to apply any pesticides at all. On the other hand I read woodworm dry out in central heated houses so shouldn't pose a long term threat. Any advice?
thanks a lot!
