wooshing noise from cold tap (outside)

hiya all had a outaide tap fitted (cold and hot) both bib taps - all perfect apart from the cold - which is obviously off the high pressured mains

when you open the tap it makes a woooshing noise?! you can over ride it by just turning the tap on more, so guessing its a pressure thing - i tried to turn it down but ended up making a difference to cold water fed toilets - so ended up turning it up more (on stop cock)

any suggestions please

You could turn it down a bit on the isolator to the tap, normally a valve that takes a flat-bladed screwdriver - if it was fitted correctly it will have one.

thanks all, a lot better - had to turn it down 3 quaters - almost off - no were near the pressure - it was to much - i want cold water but i dont want a shower why i put the tap on lol

guessing its just water pressure

obviously hot tap outside doesnt do it (this is generally quieter)

guess this is as the mains is pressured ??
