my worcester 24cdi boiler is switching itself off intermittently.
I have to press the reset for 5 secs and it fires up afain.
This happens about 4 times a week.

Is the burner or gas pipe clogged up, or is some sensor telling it to shut down.

any clues would be helpful.

thanks

An intermittent fault can be very difficult to trace.

It would be a good clue if you can discover what the boiler is doing the the last 10 sec before it locks out.

thanks boys.

the lights flash fast, and both hw and heating lock out.

I still think there might be some "fault" with the ignition..??

c.h light flashing fast is a sensor fault, hwater is an air flow prob! fan air pressure switch etc.

If you have multiple probs you are better ringing worcester, they will send an engineer for £215 this price includes all parts and labour!

The boiler works fine..
its just the ch flashes when it goes off.
when I try the hw tap it still doesnt fire up.
so i have to press reset for 5 secs and it works.
i have to assume there is some fault with the ignition, because it goes off about 3 times a week., and i am thinking the burner might be clogged which trips off some sensor.

thanks

That still doesn't tell me why you think it is an ignition fault.
From what you said, it sounds more like the boiler is suffering from severe lack of maintenance.

I am only assuming its an igniton malfunction of sorts, but i dont really know.
The boiler woks ok apart from on/off routine.
if its somethimg else then I cant see it.
I am a plumber. etc, but not fully knowledged on boiler operation.
hence I`m struggling to find the reason for it switching off.
thanks
