Hi
I have a 7 year old worcester combi which is making horrible noises, flow to hot water taps is very very poor. Plumber (who fitted it ) has told me the heat exchanger is scaled up. I asked him if he was able to descale it but he tells me that the chemicals used to descale causing pitting on the surface of the exchanger so it will likely scale up again much faster and it will be better to replace the exchanger altogether. Does this sound like good advice or is he trying to fleece me for more money for a bigger job? Has quoted circa £350 + vat for the exchanger and a couple of hours labour.
Any advice based on experience would be really welcome
Thanks in advance
