Question for gas safe engineers.

My landlord has called out Bosch a few times over the past two years. They've changed the ignition contacts twice and also put in a new circuitboard. The last guy said there was "something at the back" and he "wedged something there".

In spite of these efforts the boiler still exhibits noisy ignition at random times during the day. It can happen when the boiler is cold or hot.

Landlord is now refusing to call out Bosch again.

What do you think of these ignitions. Are they normal for this boiler?

you say the landlord has had worcester out?? are you sure it is worcester and not the landlords engineer who wears a worcester jacket? ( most engineers that fit worcester boilers have the worcester work wear.)
There is definately a problem with the boiler and worcester would not leave it like it.
if it was a worcester engineer you should have been left some paperwork. They would come back and sort it.
Sounds like it may have a split blast tube or a leaking main combustion gasket. It needs to be sorted urgently

Thanks for your reply. Landlord is the council. They call out The Gas Company who then call out Bosch. The Gas Company did a safety check recently but they couldn't observe the noisy ignition, so they're refusing to call out Bosch again. I'll get onto the council with your advice, cheers.

For future reference, The Gas Company resolved this issue by replacing the ignition leads. Seems like the Bosch engineers didn't notice the leads were faulty.
