Hi,

My boiler basically has a problem where it fires up (somtimes), then cuts out. This is for both CH and HW. Sometimes the pump will come on, but it wont ignite. Other times nothing will happen. Often once it has cut out, it would "click", trying to come back on, usually unsuccessfully, but sometimes it manages it, but goes off again soon after. The problem has got worse. Now once it cuts out, it rarely comes back on unless...

The way to "fix it" is to tap or firmly pressw the front panel where the PCB is housed. Or with the front off and the panel folded down, pressing down the PCB metal housing will do it. Often this will only help it work for a few mins before it cuts out again... time for another tap or as last night, after a few taps it worked fine all night, but then come this morning, it wouldnt fire up.

Ive wiggled wires, doesnt seem like anything is loose, everything looks connected to the PCB as it should be.

I have been told I need a new PCB by heating engineer.

Any thoughts before I shell out?

Many thanks.

Daughter had same problem with halstead ace high. tapping the front and it would light. Considered to be poor connection, but not find anything wrong until PCB was removed. Bad soldered joint on underside and signs of arcing. now cured.

Did you re-solder or get new pcb??

Many thanks for all the replies, following the advice I went with new PCB and its working fine now.

Cheers all.

Alex :)
